Caps vs Blackhawks Pregame: Ovi Returns

After missing Tuesday’s game against the Sharks, captain Alex Ovechkin will return to the lineup as the Caps take on the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Here’s to hoping the good guys come with a better effort than they did om Tuesday, as they played freaking horribly.

Is everyone ready for some Thursday night hockey action? If you’re a student of Rebecca Black’s poetry, you know that Thursday comes before Friday. If you like mediocre emo-type music, you may identify Thursday as when we seek Understanding in a Car Crash. Perhaps, like Robert Smith, you prefer to watch the walls instead of hockey on this particular day of the week. But if not, you can watch the game at 7 PM on CSN.

Music

I’m going to pass on my chance to put Rebecca Black into this pregame. Not because I’m better than that, but because I don’t want to be banned from this duty.

I like The Cure, but I don’t love them. However, I’ll always remember where I was when I first heard this gem

Oooookay. Now that we’re all under our desks in the fetal position, let’s get ready for some hockey.

Storylines

  • Chandler Stephenson will make his NHL debut tonight centering the Caps fourth line. To make room for him on the roster, Sean Collins was sent to Hershey. To make room for him in the lineup, Michael Latta is being scratched.
  • Taylor Chorney will be making his Caps debut tonight, taking the place of Nate Schmidt. This better not become a pattern or else we will have a Code Red Schmidtuation.
  • Everything about Tuesday was suck. #Alarmgate, the game. Everything.
  • Jay Beagle rightfully thinks the disallowed goal call was full suck.
  • Nicky, who is cleared for contact, and Ovi at least enjoyed themselves while listening to Joe B. and Locker.
  • Madison Bowey and Liam O’Brien set the record straight for Harold Reynolds, who says a lot of things that requires the straightening of records.
  • Have fun tonight, but think before you chant.
  • On October 28th, Braden Holtby will be wearing a different mask for a good cause.
  • Despite the fact that he’s scratched tonight, Michael Latta is a good fit for the fourth line center job.

Baseball

Maybe you don’t like baseball. That’s okay, we all have flaws. But if you do enjoy America’s Game, or appreciate people who are the best at their craft, the Dodgers and Mets play in an elimination game on TBS at 8 PM. The pitching match up is going to be fantastic as Zach Grienke toes the rubber for the Dodgers and Jacob deGrom will be on the hill for the Mets.
