We have one last story from the Caps season ticket holder party Thursday and it’s, well, delicious.
Like J.R., Caps fans Jenn P. and her cousin Steph came to the amusement park on a mission. Just it wasn’t for tattoos. It was to deliver some amazing baked goods to two of their favorite players: Caps roomies Tom Wilson and Michael Latta.
I’ll let Jenn and Steph explain.
We read last year in the Caps program that Michael Latta prefers cookies over cake. So Thursday, we decided to bake both Latta and Wilson some. We made four different healthy options:
- Peanut butter hummus cookies
- High protein chocolate peanut butter cookies (made with protein powder)
- Low sugar peanut butter cookie
- And Ketchup bottle cookies!
The ketchup bottle cookies were obviously inspired by the roommates’ refrigerator scene in Road To The Winter Classic. We made sure that two of the ketchup bottles had their nicknames, Willy and Lats, written on them in glitter icing.

That night, we managed to sneak our two gift bags through security at Six Flags. First, we got into Wilson’s line. He was excited by our gift.
We gave Wilson both bags because we weren’t sure we’d make it through the long line to meet TJ Oshie and Latta. Wilson promised to make sure Latta received it.
While we were chatting, Wilson also signed a onesie for Jenn. She’s eight months pregnant and due in about three weeks. She explained to Tom that she tried to get her husband on board with the name Wilson for their future son, but he wasn’t budging from Nicklas.
After hearing this story, Evgeny Kuznetsov, who was signing with Wilson, chimed in, saying, “Evgeny good name!! Evgeny!”

Once we left Wilson’s line, we got in Latta’s. Lats was very excited that we made the cookies for him. When we told him we made them out of chick peas and protein powder, it was like he just saw Santa. But then we had to tell him the bad part: we left his bag with Wilson.
“Oh man,” Latta said. “He’s gonna eat all my cookies!”

At the end of the night, we passed Wilson going to our cars. He still had both bags with him.
Maybe Latta got them after all.
