This happened about three months ago, but I just came across it on Instagram and had to share it. It’s a photo of Alex Ovechkin waving to tiny Caps fan EJ during practice.

His mother wrote on Instagram:

EJ’s day has been made!!! #ovi waived to him and he was so excited!!!

I really can’t stress enough how much I believe Ovechkin is worthy of being nominated for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, a community service award as voted by his peers.

The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is an annual award given to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.
