On Saturday, while taking part in an autograph signing in Laurel, Troy Brouwer made some news. Talking to the DC Sports Bog’s Ben Sumner, Brouwer revealed that Evgeny Kuznetsov‘s wife Nastia is pregnant.

And oh yeah, Brouwer and his beautiful wife Carmen are expecting too. From the Bog:

One couple took a photo with Brouwer for their birth announcement. The wife’s shirt read — with arrows pointing inward — “Future Brouwer Fan. Rookie debut Nov. 2015.” Flattered, Brouwer told the fans that he’s got a second child on the way, due in September. It was hardly the weirdest fan request or player tribute Brouwer has seen. However, he was pretty shell shocked when looking at the photos of taxidermied squirrels in hockey jerseys, one of whom was modeled after Hershey Bears captain and Caps call-up Steve Oleksy.

Brouwer then named the other Caps currently with children on the way, including John Carlson, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and John Erskine, not to mention new fathers Jay Beagle and Karl Alzner. Brouwer said that he liked the name Alex, and would have considered naming a son that, up until he met Ovechkin, so that name was off the table. Ovechkin heard him say that and shrugged.

Carlson and Erskine too? Wow. Everyone’s getting busy.

The 22-year-old Kuznetsov, who got married to Nastia when he was 19, will become the first Russian Capitals player to become a father. If Kuznetsov can keep playing until 2034, we might even see father and son play together in Washington. One can dream.

What I’m really looking forward to though is the baby shower present the couple will receive from Alex Ovechkin.

Will it top this oil painting he got for Alex Semin over the summer as a wedding present? One can only hope.
