Nicklas Backstrom finally got number 400. His 400th career assist came late in the second period, a quick response to Ryan Johansen’s goal just 33 seconds earlier.
Deep in traffic, Backstrom passed the puck to Matt Niskanen, who unleashed a bomb from the point. The puck deflected off Andre Burakovsky and eluded Blue Jackets goaltender Curtis McElhinney. It’s the Burracuda’s 7th goal of the season.
Backstrom is at exactly a point-per-game in his 542-game career– though this one isn’t over yet.
542 points in 542 games for Nick Backstrom, 400 of them assists.
