Evgeny Kuznetsov played well against Toronto last week. Not one to let his friend get a big head, Russian comrade Alex Ovechkin, knocked him down a peg or two by pranking his post-game press conference. “You can’t speak English,” Ovechkin yelled, picked up by microphones.
You can watch that whole interview on RMNB.
On Monday, Kuznetsov struck back in the weirdest way possible.
While Ovechkin spoke to reporters, Kuznetsov held up a jock strap menacingly just behind the scrum. The Capitals did not post video of Ovechkin’s interview, which is unfortunate.
I asked The Washington Post’s Alex Prewitt what he saw.
“I’m not sure on the details,” Prewitt said with noted disappointment. “I was talking to Orpik while it happened. That’s why my picture was far away.”
“Just saw Kuzy out of the corner of my eye standing in the back of the pack, holding up a jock strap,” he continued. “It happened for a good long while. I’d imagine it was getting him back, but I have no idea.”
NBC Washington’s Adam Vingan did not respond to my desperate plea for more information before publication.
In conclusion, I’m not sure that this:

…is any more embarrassing than this.
But the pranking must continue. It it too funny.
