Tom Wilson‘s broken ankle has finally heeled (get it? boo). Tonight he will play in his first game of the 2014-15 season… with the Hershey Bears. Wilson was re-assigned to the AHL earlier this week.
It’s unknown how Wilson will play in Barry Trotz’s new system, but there’s one thing I’m confident of: he still knows how to face-punch good.
Proof: Last week, RMNB’s Amanda Bowen caught John Stamos’s brother-from-another-mother participating in a fake scrap with Michael Latta.
It’s hard to teach that reach.
As for this weekend, Wilson’s every move has been planned by Barry Trotz.
“Wilson is going to play 5-on-5,” Bears head coach Troy Mann said Thursday to The Patriot-News’ Tim Leone. “We’ll just see how it’s going. They’ve asked for 8-10 minutes [in Washington].
“If he’s playing 5-on-5, he will probably be in that range. I might throw him on the second power-play unit, as well, or maybe save that for Sunday just depending on how things are going.”
Wilson is scheduled to participate in the morning skate on Saturday but not play in Hershey’s game that night. On Sunday he will play again, where it’s believed his minutes will be ramped up further.
If all goes well, Wilson could be back in the line-up Wednesday.
