I spy a Deadguins shirt.
When someone follows RMNB on Twitter or Facebook, buys a shirt, or participates a bunch in any way, to me they are like a shareholder. If a shareholder ever needs something, you know I’m down to help.
Over the weekend, reader Sandra, a big RMNB supporter for a long time, asked if we could promote a fundraiser she is holding at the Ballston Buffalo Wild Wings on Wednesday. If you come in from 12 PM to 8 PM and eat, just mention the American Heart Association or show your server this ticket. Ten percent of your bill will be donated to the charity.
Below, Sandra explains why it’s important to participate.
Next Wednesday, October 15th between 12pm-8pm at Buffalo Wild Wings in Ballston, my family and I will be hosting a fundraiser event to raise money for the American Heart Association. My family and I are walking at the 2014 HeartWalk in DC next month and we’re trying to raise money for our team, Team Mama Sanchez.
The reason we’re walking and raising money is a personal reason. My mother which many friends simply call Mama Sanchez had a stroke in January 2012. The day it happened we had no idea whether she was going to survive or not. For the next few months, my family and I were visiting hospitals and rehab centers to see my mother. Honestly, I couldn’t even tell you how the Caps were doing during that time.
Thankfully she did come home and after almost 3 years, we can happily say she has recovered with no noticeable side effects.
Although my family was lucky enough to have my mother survive, a lot of people aren’t. I wouldn’t wish anyone to have to go through what my family did in 2012. Back then, when my mother was in the hospital we had outpouring of support from friends and family from people visiting to the tons and tons of flowers that she received.
This time we want to give back to end stroke and heart disease because even though my mother has recovered, the impact it has had on our lives is one that we never expected. I wanted to contact you guys because you are a big part of the Caps fan community. As someone who has been a Caps fan since I was 7, I’ve always seen Caps fan as more of a family. Some of my closest friends are Caps fans and we always go to games together but they also were there when my mom was in the hospital. This time I want more Caps fans to help out.
On October 15th between 12pm-8pm at BWW in Ballston, come in with the flyer that I’ve attached or simply mention the American Heart Association to your server and 10% of your bill will be donated. It’s super simple and the wings at BWW are delicious!! Plus they’ll help out the gem that is Mama Sanchez (plus she did just get me the 3-day Winter Classic ticket package – how awesome is she).
If there’s anyway you guys can help out or even just come, that would be greatly appreciated!
Here’s the ticket if you’d like to print it out as a reminder to your server.
I won’t be able to make it, but here’s some motivation for one of you to attend. Whoever tweets @russianmachine first with:
A) Their receipt from their meal (which shows you’re at the Ballston location)
B) The printed out ticket
C) And a photo of you wearing a RMNB t-shirt while there
You will get your choice of one of our new t-shirts in our store.
So do some good on Wednesday. It’s easy, it’ll be fun, you might get some free stuff, and if the Capitals put up a five-spot against San Jose, this is what you would have done anyways.
