Before the Washington Capitals took on the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday, there was a wedding at center ice of Verizon Center. Mike and (the now) Liz Shannon tied the knot in front of family and friends standing inside the home and away benches.
Now, getting married wearing Caps jerseys on the ice of the Capitals home arena is pretty cool, but this is where I’m going to blow your mind: CSN’s Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin participated in the service.
During CSN’s Thompson Creek’s Window of Opportunity segment, Joe B. and Locker talked about the ceremony. And they joked.
Of course they joked.
Joe Beninati: Wedding bells ringing inside of Verizon Center, today.
Craig Laughlin: It was fun wasn’t it? Going out with Liz and Mike Shannon. A lot of their friends and family on board here. The big time Caps fans wanted to get married at center ice. Joe B and I, we had the opportunity to be involved in it.
Joe Beninati: Who are those strange ushers there reading? Oh there they are!
Craig Laughlin: Lots of fun and congrats to those two.
Joe Beninati: Very rarely do you hear a loving I do on the ice. We did today.
Craig Laughlin: joebeninati.com/wedding for more!
[Both laugh]
Joe Beninati: Oh nice!
Craig Laughlin: I thought you were great at that.
Joe Beninati: Maybe a bat mitzvah.
This is just priceless.
