Happy Tweet Like Ovi Day! For those of you who are new to the site, every year on August 8th (8/8), we celebrate one of the wery best!!!!! hockey players in the world, Alex Ovechkin, and his one-of-a-kind communication style by tweeting like him all day.

To participate, just jump on your Twitter machine, shotgun cans of Red Bull until you’re shaking violently, and then start typing. Remember, recklessly abandoning all grammar and punctuation rules you learned in grade school is not just encouraged, it’s required.

We’re also asking you guys to conclude every tweet with a poignant hahahahahahaha of any length, some exuberant close parenthesis )))))), and the hashtag #TweetLikeOviDay. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get this holiday trending in DC this year.

As always, if you need some style-guide tips, follow the master himself @Ovi8 and peruse his work. We’re also encouraging you guys to submit photos and Vines. Put on your favorite Nike t-shirts and hats, black out a tooth, grab a hockey stick, and strike a pose.
