Mike Ribeiro was only a rental for the Washington Capitals, acquired to fill a void as the temporary second line center. After his half season with team, he bolted for big money in Phoenix. Many Caps fans, though, still have a soft spot for Ribs and his swag. So, what does Ribeiro think of us? Well, here’s what he said the Coyotes press corps (two people) ahead of Saturday’s game.
Question: What are your thoughts on playing the Caps in general and what are the keys to beating them?
Ribeiro: Well it will be fun to play against them. It’ll be a great game to play against my old teammates. Obviously you have to keep away from the power play, stay disciplined. If you do that and push the game along you have a chance to win. Once they don’t score in the first period they sorta like to open up. But the main thing is to stay disciplined.
Question: What did you make of your time in Washington?
Ribeiro: It was great to visit the city and see the museums and stuff. I had no choice to go there, I got traded there. You just do what you have to do. It was nice to be part of. Players like Backstrom and Green and Ovi. It was a nice experience to go and see DC and live there for a year. I rather have the sun. Come here and get up with the sun every morning.
