Garrett Mitchell has had a great summer, marrying his long-time girlfriend Talita.
In a recent tweet, we learned that, by way of his wife, Mitchell has an odd connection to Brooks Laich. Back during his days with the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds (circa 2001-02), Laich signed a card for Talita, who most likely wasn’t even a teenager at the time.
Laich would then go on to be drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2001, and then traded to the Washington Capitals two years later as part of the Peter Bondra deal. Talita then married Garrett Mitchell, who was Washington’s 6th round pick in 2009.
A roster spot for this guy is like destiny.
