Dylan Larkin fights childhood best friend Zach Werenski during game

Michigan natives Dylan Larkin and Zach Werenski are longtime friends who played on the same youth hockey teams together since they were 10 years old. Monday, the two played each other in the NHL at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena – one a captain of the Red Wings and the other a star defenseman for the Blue Jackets. Larkin even left tickets for Werenski’s parents so they could attend the game.

They fought each other in the third period.

Report: Zach Werenski agrees to three-year, $15 million contract

The NHL’s restricted free agent freeze is beginning to thaw.

Monday morning, Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski re-signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets, inking a three-year, $15 million deal right before the start of Blue Jackets’ training camp.

The NHL Network’s Kevin Weekes was the first to report the news.

Blue Jackets believe Ryan Dzingel’s ‘lucky duck’ has special goal-scoring powers

The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired Ryan Dzingel at the trade deadline. While CBJ acquired a three-time 20-goal scorer, they also unknowingly acquired his “lucky duck” too, which purportedly has Jobu-like powers.

For instance, after rubbing the duck before Tuesday’s game, both Dzingel and Zach Werenski scored in Columbus’s game against the Boston Bruins.

Who wore Zach Werenski’s jacked up face better: Zach Werenski or this t-shirt?

After a weird puck bounce in the Columbus Blue Jackets’ first-round series, rookie defenseman Zach Werenski found himself with a broken orbital bone, broken sinus cavity, and 18 fugly stitches.

Werenski’s misfortune was canonized (see what I did there?) in a gnarly selfie which then itself became a viral story for a Blue Jackets fan. Jay Shrub received national attention and a free Zach Werenski jersey after turning the photo into a very beautiful shirt.

Now Werenski has one of his own.

Fan who wears shirt of Zach Werenski’s jacked-up face gets signed jersey from Zach Werenski

The Columbus Blue Jackets have a T-Shirt Guy imitator, but we’ll give him a pass just this once.

Days after the Blue Jackets lost star defenseman Zach Werenski for the season due to a fractured face, a bearded Blue Jackets fan, who works for FunnyShirts.org, debuted the perfect tribute for the 19-year-old during Game Four. The fan had Werenski’s black and blue face, which included a cotton swab shoved up his right nostril, printed on the entire canvas of his t-shirt.

This is fantastic.

Alex Ovechkin’s hit on Zach Werenski will be reviewed by Department of Player Safety

The Capitals escaped Columbus with a huge sassy win, but their captain could be in some hot water.

1:21 into the third period, Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin landed a big hit on Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski. As Seth Jones reversed the puck to Werenski, a hard-charging Ovechkin crushed the 19-year-old in the corner.

Werenski would leave the game and not return.
