The LA Kings fired their head coach just 13 games into the season
The Los Angeles Kings stumbled out of the gate this season. They have just 9 standings points in 13 games. With only four wins, their record stands at 4-8-1, worst in the Western Conference.
On Sunday, Kings’ vice president and general manager, Rob Blake, announced that head coach John Stevens and assistant coach Job Bachbaur have been relieved of their duties. The Kings fired their previous head coach Daryl Sutter and GM Dean Lombardi in April 2017. Stevens was hired to replace Sutter within the month.
Willie Desjardins will become head coach. Desjardins was associate head coach of the Dallas Stars from 2010-12 and head coach of the Vancouver Canucks from 2014-17. One-time Capital forward Marco Sturm will take over Bachbaur’s assistant coaching duties. Sturm is currently GM and head coach of the German national team.
