Over the weekend, Nastya Shubskaya posted a selfie with her fiance Alex Ovechkin, both of whom were back in Russia. The caption of the photo did not include words – only a heart emoji repeated three times.
And then the Russian media did its thing.

On Saturday, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and his girlfriend Nastya Shubskaya attended a wedding at the Hilton in Moscow. It was to celebrate the vows of make-up artist and co-owner of the Prive7 beauty salon, Irina Mitroshkina, and her beau Roman.
Ovechkin had a good time.
Before the Washington Capitals took on the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday, there was a wedding at center ice of Verizon Center. Mike and (the now) Liz Shannon tied the knot in front of family and friends standing inside the home and away benches.
Now, getting married wearing Caps jerseys on the ice of the Capitals home arena is pretty cool, but this is where I’m going to blow your mind: CSN’s Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin participated in the service.

Earlier this evening, Washington Capitals defenseman and fifth member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles John Carlson got married to his long-time girlfriend, Gina Nucci, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Woodend Nature Sanctuary in Maryland.
Gina looked stunning in her gown and aw, man, Carly looked so danged happy. We’re thrilled for them.
Carlson now becomes the second Capital player to get married this summer, joining Mike Green in holy matrimony (ugh, not with each other; you know what I mean).
All our young guns are grown’d up.

On Saturday, Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green got married to longtime girlfriend Courtney Parrie, causing a mild panic among some of our female readers. Details of the ceremony are scant, but a few more photos emerged on Sunday evening.

On the same day that one Russian star changed his number to become less enigmatic, news broke that a former ex-Capital/present-day enigma got married. Yes, Alex Semin took the plunge with his long-term girlfriend Alyona. It was first reported by Sokol Krasnoyarsk, the same VHL team that Semin played with during the lock-out to be near his granny.
In true Alex Semin fashion, details about the ceremony are scant. It’s shrouded in mystery. We don’t know when it happened, where it happened, or have any photos. We just know that it happened.
For all you single ladies of RMNB, this will be upsetting. Over the weekend, former Washington Capitals goaltender (and Hello Kitty stunt double) Michal Neuvirth got married to long-time girlfriend Monika. The two got hitched in a ceremony held in Neuvirth’s home country of the Czech Republic.
Neuvirth confirmed the news on his public Facebook page using– naturally– all hashtags.
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is getting married to Maria Kirilenko. We know that; there’s a ring. But what about the date? Up until now, there has been nothing but speculation and rumors. Some of those rumors, to Ovi’s bemusement, implied that he had allegedly cancelled or postponed the wedding. A few days ago Ovechkin promised Sovetsky Sport’s Pavel Lysenkov a call as soon as the date is set.
Enter Troy Brouwer, who spoke to another Sovetsky Sport reporter, Leonid Varshavsky, on Tuesday.

One week ago, Washington Capitals prospect Garrett Mitchell got hitched to his long-time girlfriend Talita in a ceremony held at Kenosee Lake, Saskatchewan. Mitchell, who has played for the American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears for the past two seasons, managed to buzz-market his team at the wedding by offering Hershey’s Kisses at a candy bar.
And now for some figurative sweetness to add of the literal kind.
Mitchell, Hershey’s most-improved player over the last two years, got an awesome gift from his friend Shae: a signed photo from Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame. Robertson, the lumpy entrepreneur/duck call maker/sunglasses seller at Walmart, personalized the photo, “Garrett, Congrats on your wedding.”
Too cool.
Evgeny Kuznetsov is now officially a married man. The 19 year-old Caps prospect got hitched today to Anastasia Zinov’yeva, his girlfriend for less than a year, in a small, quaint ceremony at Trakor’s 7,500 seat arena. Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was even in attendance, flying from Moscow to Chelyabinsk to make a wedding banquet held later in the day at Beryozka.
