Peter Bondra combines with Jonathan Toews to recreate Sonny Milano and Trevor Zegras’ ‘Dishigan’ goal

More than 15 years after retiring, Peter Bondra is still showing elite skill.

Bondra, who is a frequent participant in Capitals alumni games, was back on the ice this past weekend, teaming up with former Blackhawk Jonathan Toews for a goal straight out of a video game. In a Michigan-style assist, Bondra scooped the puck up from behind an unsuspecting Jaroslav Halak, flipping it over the net before Toews tapped it in.

The play came during Marian Hossa’s Goodbye Game in Slovakia, featuring a star-studded roster that included fellow Capitals alumni Jaroslav Halak, Zdeno Chara, and Michal Kempny. A foggy Pavol Demitra Ice Stadium in Trencin served as the venue.

Trevor Zegras tried to fib his way out of a penalty for stealing another player’s stick: ‘Nobody was buying’ it

The Anaheim Ducks have quite a history of on-ice thievery when it comes to opposition sticks.

In 2010, Bobby Ryan once famously scored a goal using Mikko Koivu’s stick that he picked up off the ice after Koivu had stolen his. Then in 2013, Corey Perry skated by the Carolina Hurricanes’ bench and yoinked former Capitals winger Alex Semin’s stick straight out of his hands.

Well, now the uber-talented Trevor Zegras took his turn. It didn’t go as well for him.

Trevor Zegras and Sarah Nurse will share cover of EA Sports’ NHL 23

With puck drop of a new season approaching, the NHL, in conjunction with EA Sports, announced the cover athletes of its latest video game, NHL 23.

Rookie sensation Trevor Zegras will share the cover with Olympic gold medalist Sarah Nurse in the first split cover in the franchise’s history.

Jay Beagle addresses criticism after cross-checking Tevor Zegras and fighting Troy Terry

Former Capital Jay Beagle was public enemy number one in the NHL after his actions in the Arizona Coyotes’ 5-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. A frustrated Beagle cross-checked Trevor Zegras and beat down Troy Terry late in the third period of the game. Terry, a star player, had never fought before while Zegras scored a first-period goal via The Michigan — a fancy lacrosse move where you pick up the puck on the blade of your stick and flick it into the net.

While speaking to Bally Sports Arizona, Beagle explained that he was upset about Zegras’s poke check to his goaltender late in a blowout game — though he never mentions Zegras by name — and blamed Terry for how aggressively he entered the fray afterward.

Beagle never directly addresses if the play was payback for Zegras’ Michigan goal.

Jay Beagle public enemy number one after beating up Troy Terry, cross-checking Trevor Zegras after ‘Michigan’ goal

Jay Beagle started a beef that a game of Mario Kart may be unable to solve.

Friday, during the first period of the Coyotes game against the Anaheim Ducks, Trevor Zegras scored a goal via The Michigan, where he picked the puck up on his blade and flicked it into the net like he was playing lacrosse.

Trevor Zegras scores with the smoothest Michigan lacrosse-style goal you’ll ever see

Trevor Zegras is already very familiar with highlight reels everywhere in his young career. He turned heads in early December by cradling the puck below the redline and sending it over the net to Sonny Milano who batted it out of mid-air for a goal.

He’s managed to top that Thursday night. He scored with the Michigan for the Anaheim Ducks as they visited the Montreal Canadiens.

Even Trevor Zegras can’t believe what Trevor Zegras just did

Just last night we got a look at how good the Anaheim Ducks’ top line is, but now this Trevor Zegras / Sonny Milano highlight makes the case for everyone to see.

It’s straight out of lacrosse: a flashy puck juggle turns into an aerial pass turns into a mid-air swat.

…Could this be the goal of the season?
