Avalanche defender Samuel Girard broke his sternum after taking huge hit, out for the rest of the playoffs

The Colorado Avalanche got some pretty terrible news on Saturday. Head coach Jared Bednar announced to the media that top-four defenseman Samuel Girard has broken his sternum and will be out for the rest of the playoffs.

Girard suffered the injury on a brutal hit behind the net by St. Louis Blues forward Ivan Barbashev.

Coyotes Zac Rinaldo suspended six games for cheap shot on Avalanche’s Samuel Girard

Wednesday night, Arizona Coyotes forward and village idiot Zac Rinaldo was suspended six games for punching an unsuspecting player, Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard.

This is Rinaldo’s fifth NHL suspension in six seasons, which makes the six-game ban seem even more lenient.
