Jaromir Jagr appreciated Jason Zucker’s salute on Reverse Retro night, but not his shot’s power

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres debuted their Reverse Retro jerseys on national TV on Wednesday. The Penguins rocked retro sweaters that were inspired by the Mario Lemieux teams of yore and featured the ‘The Robo Pen’ logo. The Sabres played in primarily white jerseys that included royal blue and gold stripes. The team’s white buffalo head logo from 1996 was on the crest.

Jason Zucker scored the game’s first goal via a two-on-one and had a perfect celebration afterward.

Gene Kranz of Apollo 13 fame was honored during the Capitals-Penguins game

Every home game, the Washington Capitals salute a service veteran.

For Wednesday night’s rivalry game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the veteran they recognized was an especially recognizable one: Eugene “Gene” Kranz, the man who successfully directed NASA’s Mission Control and brought the Apollo 13 crew back home.

Evgeny Kuznetsov salutes crowd Jaromir Jagr-style after scoring 11th goal of season

Nicklas Backstrom might have been the first star, but Evgeny Kuznetsov also had himself a heck of a game during the Caps’ 5-3 victory over the Boston Bruins. (Let’s just ignore his 30% corsi, which I’m going to blame on Jay Beagle.)

In the third period, Kuznetsov took over and put the game out of reach for the Boston Bruins. 3:29 into the stanza, Kuzy authored a beautiful carry-in which led to a Brett Connolly goal. The tally put the Caps up 4-2. Later, Kuzy put the figurative cherry on top after scoring his 11th goal of the season.

He saluted the crowd after the goal.

The Capitals Salute New Hall of Fame Inductee Peter Forsberg (GIF)

Thursday night at Pepsi Center, the Colorado Avalanche honored Peter Forsberg for his recent induction to the Hall of Fame. At the 8-minute mark, CSN Washington came back from break to capture the entire Caps bench rising to its feet and slapping their sticks against the boards in an awesome salute.

Forsberg was joined by Nicole Nordin, their young son Lennox, and daughter Lily in the luxury suites.

Such a great moment.

Flyers Fans Flip Off Martin St. Louis and Daniel Carcillo (GIF)

WARNING: This post may upset readers who get emotional about human fingers. Not all of the fingers. Just the one in the middle.

Last night, the Philadelphia Flyers hosted a home playoff game for the first time since 2012, when they lost to the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the New Jersey Devils, in five games. The Flyers lost again on Tuesday, this time getting smacked 4-1 by the New York Rangers. They are down 2-1 in the series.

This first round match-up isn’t over yet, but some Flyers fans are already melting down. After a goal by Martin St. Louis put the Rangers up 2-0, a Flyers fan flipped him off. It made for good TV.
