Pavel Buchnevich suspended one game for high-sticking Anthony Mantha

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety suspended Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich one game for high-sticking Anthony Mantha, Thursday afternoon.

The one-game suspension was for high-sticking and not cross-checking due to Buchnevich dropping one hand from his stick before striking Mantha in the face.

That choice, unintentional or not, ended up mattering very much in curtailing the length of the suspension.

Pavel Buchnevich will have a hearing today after high-sticking Anthony Mantha

Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich will have a hearing on Thursday after jumping to deliver a cross-check to Anthony Mantha’s face Wednesday night. It is not known if the hearing will be in-person on over the phone.

Buchnevich’s run-in with Mantha occurred in the second period, resulting in Buchnevich’s ejection. TJ Oshie scored his second of the night on the ensuing power play.

Pavel Buchnevich ejected after jumping to deliver a cross-check to Anthony Mantha’s face

Tom Wilson didn’t get suspended by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, but it appears Pavel Buchnevich sure will.

Wednesday, during The Second Line Brawl Game, Buchnevich had a run-in with Anthony Mantha that ended in blood and him ejected from the ballgame.

Rangers say Tom Wilson showed zero respect towards Buchnevich and Panarin during brawl: ‘There are lines that can’t be crossed’

The New York Rangers were officially eliminated from playoff contention after their 6-3 loss to the Washington Capitals on Monday. But after the game, much of their focus was on the second-period line brawl that saw the two teams scrum after a Vitek Vanecek goal-line save.

Tom Wilson caused the most havoc, punching Pavel Buchnevich in the head, body-slamming Artemi Panarin to the ice, and taunting the Rangers with a macho man routine from the penalty box. Panarin left the game with a lower-body injury and would not return.

The Rangers had harsh words for Wilson postgame.

Tom Wilson given misconduct, 14 minutes in penalties, after starting line brawl with Rangers

The Washington Capitals and New York Rangers got in a line brawl in the second period after Vitek Vanecek went to the splits to make a goal-line stop on Pavel Buchnevich during a Caps penalty kill.

As the play was whistled dead, Tom Wilson punched Buchnevich in the side of the head as the Rangers’ forward laid defenseless and face down on the ice.

Things deteriorated from there.

Two New York Rangers players injured in car accident

New York Rangers players Igor Shesterkin and Pavel Buchnevich were injured in a car accident, Sunday night. Rangers president John Davidson announced the news Monday morning after the Rangers signed Chris Kreider to a seven-year extension.

The 24-year-old Russians were driving in Brooklyn when they collided with another car. Shesterkin, the driver, fractured a rib in the accident while Buchnevich, the passenger, is day-to-day. He did not suffer any “significant injuries.”

Tom Wilson said he’d put Rangers players to sleep before fighting Brendan Lemieux

The legend of Tom Wilson continues to grow.

Towards the tail end of the Capitals’ 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers, the top-six winger began throwing his body and engaging in some not-so-friendly post-whistle chats with his combatants – one of which was caught by a hot mic during NBC Sports’ presentation of the game.
