Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin is having a splendid summer. A week after showing his friends how to stick to the script in the club and days after participating in a charity basketball game with his mom, the Russian machine turned up at a CSKA Moscow basketball game with his fiancée Nastya Shubskaya.
Ovechkin shelved his Nike gear to dress as a can of Coke, which is another of his sponsors.

After scoring 50 goals at age 30 and winning bronze at the World Championship, Alex Ovechkin is finally unwinding. Wednesday night, the Russian machine enjoyed a rare day off with his fiancée, Nastya Shubskaya, and close friend (and Russian rapper) T-Killah. “Caught by a fishing rod,” wrote Ovechkin on Instagram. In the picture, Ovechkin, smiling like a big nerd, wears a Capitals hat with “Stick to the Script” emblazoned on it.
I’m guessing this isn’t exactly what Barry Trotz had in mind with the slogan, but I love it.

Last night, I watched the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 with my wife while my kitten slept on my lap. As I was going to bed, I checked Instagram as any good blogger would do and noticed an excited Alex Ovechkin posting photos from a Tiesto concert in Washington DC.
Ovechkin and his fiancee Nastya Shubskaya traveled to Club Glow to watch the noted Rangers fan deejay a set after the Caps’ 4-0 loss to the Blues. “Nice to see u bro! @tiesto always the best time!))))” Ovechkin wrote on Instagram.
Thursday night, a day after the Caps’ 4-3 overtime loss to Los Angeles, Alex Ovechkin had dinner with the greatest Kings (and NHL) player of all-time, Wayne Gretzky. In fact, it was a hockey double date.
According to Ovechkin’s fiancee, Nastya Shubskaya, Gretzky’s wife Janet organized the night out in Malibu. Wayne’s son Ty Gretzky also joined.
“Tnx for gr8 time !!!u the best!!!!,” Ovechkin wrote on Instagram.
The two couples ate at Nobu Malibu, a fancy oceanfront restaurant which encourages reservations “be made up to one month in advance.” Between the two players, Ovechkin and Gretzky have scored 1,410 goals and totaled 3,813 points during their careers. I’m sure they had a lot of gr8 things to talk about.
The Washington Capitals have been on Christmas Break ever since Monday’s thrilling 2-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

For the first time this season, Alex Ovechkin didn’t score in Friday’s monster win over the Edmonton Oilers. Instead he had to settle for two assists — and apparently a puppy. In an Instagram photo shared Saturday evening, Ovechkin and fiancee Nastya Shubskaya posed with their new dog, a flopsy black puppy named Blaik. “Get to know the new member of the family,” Ovechkin writes.
And one more thing: Ovi is dressed like Batman. That’s because the Capitals are having their Halloween Party tonight. Oh yes.

Last Thursday, the Washington Capitals held their annual season-ticket holder party at Six Flags America and it was a bunch of fun. There were ketchup bottle cookies, dominant whack-a-mole performances, an Oshie/Yoshie meeting, and spur of the moment tattoos. Now the team’s releasing GoPro footage of some Caps and their significant others riding a roller coaster.
It’s mandatory viewing — especially because of how scared TJ Oshie is before the Superman’s first big drop.
Alex Ovechkin got a lot accomplished in his final weekend in Russia before returning to DC. Ovi got engaged to his girlfriend Nastya Shubskaya on Friday, thanked his corporate sponsors that same night, and then played in a charity basketball game on Sunday (his final event before flying back).
In the midst all of that, Ovechkin did one thing more than any other: dance. The Russian machine became a Dance machine.

On Saturday, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and his girlfriend Nastya Shubskaya attended a wedding at the Hilton in Moscow. It was to celebrate the vows of make-up artist and co-owner of the Prive7 beauty salon, Irina Mitroshkina, and her beau Roman.
Ovechkin had a good time.
