Ron MacLean announces the end of Coach’s Corner and discusses Don Cherry’s firing

Don Cherry was fired this week following his troubling anti-immigrant comments. This Saturday night, Cherry’s former co-host Ron MacLean addressed the event.

MacLean’s comments, apparently unscripted, are personal, not political. He discusses his friendship with Cherry and his disappointment in his own initial reaction to Cherry’s remarks. He closes the segment with a loving tribute to Cherry — and a sideways announcement that Coach’s Corner is now over.

Bruce Boudreau Talks About Alex Ovechkin on CBC Panel

Just about everyone has an opinion on how Alex Ovechkin can improve his play. One voice worth paying attention to though, is the guy who knows Ovi better that almost anyone else: Bruce Boudreau, his coach for a better part of five years. On Saturday, Boudreau, now the bench boss of the Anaheim Ducks and a playoff analyst for CBC, finally offered his thoughts during HNIC’s coverage of the Caps/Bruins game.
