The Caps and Flyers have been super chippy with each other ever since Matt Niskanen‘s clean hit of Scott Laughton last month. Today, village idiot Zac Rinaldo tried to run Mike Green.
What a day for Tom Wilson. In the first period, he executed a perfect double check with Jason Chimera. In the third during a fight with Matt Martin, the manchild nearly ripped the dude’s jersey in half.
That is an impressive feat of strength.
Troy Brouwer doesn’t fight much, but when he does, he ragepunches. After Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon gave him an extra shove after the whistle, the Caps forward dropped his gloves and won the bout with a series of rabid left-handed jabs and then a big haymaker to the chin.
Washington Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen had seven career NHL fights and had yet to drop the gloves at all this season before Sunday’s game. He’s a tough player but not a fighter. On Sunday, Niskanen agreed to exchange punches with Flyers forward Scott Laughton.
Niskanen dropped the hammer, just like he did a few weeks ago.
