Ethen Frank has two-point night as Bears sweep Wild in back-to-back

The Hershey Bears defeated the Iowa Wild 2-1 for the second game in a row. The Bears now have a 15-4-0 record overall on the season, catapulting them back into first in the league.

Ethen Frank, the Bears’ leading goal scorer last season, had a goal and an assist in tonight’s game. Clay Stevenson was in net for the second matchup between the teams and made 26 saves, including several big ones down the stretch. The Bears’ power play unit shined in tonight’s game, with both goals coming on the man advantage.

Bears finish week undefeated with 4-0 shutout over Bridgeport

The Hershey Bears finished out their week strong with a 4-0 shutout over the Bridgeport Islanders.

Bears’ goalie Clay Stevenson was named the First Star of the Night. Stevenson saved all 25 shots he faced in his third shutout of the season so far.

With the victory, the Bears swept both nights of their back-to-back with the Islanders, outscoring them 9-4.

Ryan Hofer scores first AHL goal in Hershey’s wild 5-4 victory over Bridgeport

In a season full of firsts, Ryan Hofer joined the milestone party on Friday.

The Capitals’ 2022 sixth-round pick scored his first professional goal in the Hershey Bears’ 5-4 victory over the Bridgeport Islanders.

The 21-year-old center prospect scored with eight seconds remaining in the first period to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.

Ethen Frank and Joe Snively score twice as Bears blow out Baby Penguins 6-1

The Hershey Bears defeated the Willkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 6-1 Sunday afternoon in a dominant showing from the Capitals’ minor-league affiliate.

The game began with an emotional tribute to former Pittsburgh Penguins player Adam Johnson, who tragically passed away in a freak in-game accident.

Two-goal nights from Ethen Frank and Joe Snively led the way for the Bear’s win. Other player highlights on the night include three-point nights from Alex Limoges and Jimmy Huntington, and Russian winger Bogdan Trineyev scored his first AHL goal. Ivan Miroshnichenko dropped the gloves tonight for the first time in his pro career.

Hershey Bears to give away Calder Cup Champions trading card sets on November 1

The Hershey Bears have teamed up with Highmark Blue Shield to give away 2023 Calder Cup Champion trading card sets to the first 10,000 people in attendance for their game against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on November 1.

The set consists of 21 different cards, ranging from the team’s championship photo to the game-winning goal scored by Mike Vecchione.

Hershey Bears win third straight after beating Providence Bruins 5-4 in shootout

The Hershey Bears won the second night of their back-to-back against the Providence Bruins, giving them three-straight wins after being blanked on Opening Night. The action-filled game featured back-and-forth scoring, that eventually came down to a shootout. Pierrick Dube and Joe Snively scored in the shootout as Bears goalie Hunter Shephard was able to hold the Bruins to a single goal.

Two-goal nights from Ethen Frank and Jimmy Huntington helped lead the team to victory. Alex Limoges also had three assists on the night while Shephard stopped 32 of 36 shots.

Hershey Bears beat Providence Bruins 3-2 as Mike Sgarbossa and Mike Vecchione have two-point nights

The Hershey Bears collected their first road win of the season, beating the Providence Bruins 3-2 on Friday. The victory marked the Bears’ first win over the Bruins on the road for the first time since January 2020. It also made Todd Nelson the 12th-winningest coach in AHL history.

Veterans Mike Vecchione and Mike Sgarbossa led the team, each with a goal and an assist on the night. Ivan Miroshnichenko also scored his first AHL goal, a game after scoring his first AHL point.

Ethen Frank scores three points in Bears’ dominant 5-2 win over Monsters

The Hershey Bears dominated the Cleveland Monsters 5-2 on Sunday after sputtering a night before. Hershey scored its first goals of the season after getting shut out by the Belleville Senators 4-0 on their banner-raising night, commemorating their 2023 Calder Cup Championship.

Ethen Frank was named the First Star of the Night after notching three points — a goal and two assists — in the game. Frank, who had four shots on the night, was the team’s leading goal-scorer last year.

Notably, Caps prospect Ivan Miroshnichenko scored his first AHL point, an assist, on a goal by Hardy Häman Aktell. The tally was also Häman Aktell’s first AHL career goal. Pierrick Dubé also scored his first goal as a Bear.

Hershey Bears announce Opening Night roster for 2023-24 season

The Hershey Bears are ready for puck drop ahead of their season-opening matchup against the Belleville Senators, Saturday night.

The team announced its 31-player, Opening Night roster that includes 19 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders.

The Bears feature 16 returning players from the 2023 Calder Cup Championship team, including 2023 AHL Playoff MVP Hunter Shepard and Capitals prospects Hendrix Lapierre and Vincent Iorio. Ivan Miroshnichenko and Alexander Suzdalev have both made the Bears and will play their rookie seasons in the AHL.

Behind the scenes of the Hershey Bears’ 2023 Calder Cup championship celebration at Giant Center

HERSHEY, PA — The Hershey Bears celebrated the franchise’s twelfth Calder Cup championship at Giant Center on Saturday afternoon. The event marked the first public event fans could attend since the Bears lifted the AHL’s championship trophy in Southern California early Thursday morning. Alternate captain and inventor of the ROAR, Mike Vecchione, scored on a rebound to in overtime of Game 7 to eliminate the first-year Coachella Valley Firebirds in thrilling fashion.

The championship ceremony began at 3 pm and was open to the public. There were so many Bears fans in attendance, many of the players, who had barely slept since winning the championship days before, stayed hours after they were scheduled to leave so no one left empty-handed.

Nothing about the celebration or the fan support felt minor league.
