Watch EA Sports’ docuseries on Alex Ovechkin: ‘From Alex To Ovi’

In celebration of Alex Ovechkin being their cover athlete for NHL 21, EA Sports is releasing a three-part docuseries on The Great 8 entitled “From Alex To Ovi.” Judging by the trailer, the film has a look and feel of ESPN’s The Last Dance, focusing on Michael Jordan’s final championship run with the Chicago Bulls.

The first episode, which is ten minutes long, begins airing on Thursday, September 3 at 1 PM. EA Sports partnered with Sportsnet and Monumental Network to create the series.

Alex Ovechkin named EA Sports’ NHL 21 cover athlete

Alex Ovechkin will rock the cover of EA Sports’ latest NHL video game, NHL 21. It’s the second time that Ovechkin has been honored as the cover athlete for the EA Sports franchise.

Ovechkin was revealed as the cover athlete on the new trailer promoting the game, which was first released at 11 AM.

EA Sports announces Edmonton Oilers win Stanley Cup in Playoff Simulation

The Edmonton Oilers have won their first Stanley Cup since 1990… in a video game.

Saturday, EA Sports announced that the Oilers won its annual Playoff Simulation defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games.

Alex Ovechkin on being ranked fourth by EA Sports: ‘Next time i will be better 😂😂’

EA Sports has revealed the fifty top-ranked players in their soon-to-be-released NHL 20 video game.

Stanley Cup Champion and Conn Smythe trophy winner Alex Ovechkin placed fourth with a score of 92. The response he tweeted out was pure Ovi.

EA Sports player ratings: NHL 19 ranks five Capitals players in top 50

EA Sports has released the rankings for the top 50 players in the soon to be released NHL 19. Five Washington Capitals player made the list, with Conn Smythe winner Alex Ovechkin placing third overall.

Braden Holtby is the third highest ranked goaltender after Carey Price (5th) and Sergei Bobrovsky (11th). Ovechkin is still the highest-ranked left winger. Despite a breakthrough season, Evgeny Kuznetzov did not break the top 30 (32nd). John Carlson and Nicklas Backstrom both received ratings of 88, placing them 41st and 42nd respectively.

Alex Ovechkin remains top-rated left winger in NHL 18

Last season, Barry Trotz and Capitals management tried to save Alex Ovechkin for the playoffs, giving the future Hall of Famer two minutes less ice time per game during the regular season. Ovechkin responded with the third-lowest goal-scoring effort of his career (33), but I have good news. Digi Ovi will not be punished for the team’s decision.

Sunday, EA Sports’ NHL 18 announced that Ovechkin remains the top-rated left winger in the game and is the highest-rated winger overall.

Watch Mike Green Beat Up People In NHL 94 Anniversary Mode

EA Sports will release NHL ’14 to the world on September 10th. The 23rd game in the series, this year’s edition features NHL ’94 Anniversary mode– a callback to the seminal, twenty-year-old game featuring current rosters and downgraded graphics. We’re talking blue ice, 8-bit organ music, and those stick-over-head goal celebrations. It’s all back.

EA Sports released a teaser video, of which 17 of 74 seconds feature Caps players doing stuff. It’s got Alex Ovechkin putting a wrister in the right-hand corner of the net (22-second mark). Totally believable.

It’s got John Erskine showing off his hip-checking skillz (30 seconds). That could happen maybe.

And it’s got Mike Green beating the snot out of Jamie Benn in the face with a flurry of crunchy-sounding right-handed punches (47-second mark). Whaaaaaaaaa.

EA Sports NHL 11 is Out Now!

So NHL 11, the new hockey game by EA Sports, has been officially released to the world as of … right… now. If you’re like me, you either pre-ordered it weeks ago (like last year) or are planning to pick it up today at Best Buy immediately after work. Over the past decade, I’ve bought the game religiously on the first day of its release. And at first play every year, I’ll pick up the controller, sit through the opening credits, love the new gameplay and then get childishly furious at one of the minor details that are off. You know, like the rosters will be wrong (i.e.- Nicklas Backstrom‘s on Brynäs IF of the Swedish Elite League but not on Washington), Green Day will be on the soundtrack (ugh), or the PA Announcer repeatedly mispronounces Alexander Semin‘s name (the really, really wrong way).

Anyways, if you share in my excitement, let’s try something fun this year, shall we? If you’re going into the store and buying the game today, I encourage all of you to take pictures and tell us all about your first experience with the game in the comments below or on the hashtag #RMNBNHL11. And please, please complain about any minor thing that’s off. Like we’re a bunch of pedantic beta testers.

Let’s see how this goes, but try and make me proud. I’ll even give a free t-shirt to somebody if they come up with something truly epic. Like submitting a photo of yourself doing the hot stick celebration with the game box or checking the GameStop employee over the counter. Game on!
