Todd Reirden uses his day with the Stanley Cup to give back to youth hockey in Indiana

On Thursday, newly appointed Capitals head coach Todd Reirden shared his day with the Stanley Cup in Crown Point and Valparaiso, Indiana.

Reirden was the Capitals assistant coach from 2014-2016 and associate coach until former head coach Barry Trotz resigned in June and was hired by the New York Islanders.

Reirden is a native of Deerfield, Illinois, but lived in Valparaiso for 12 years with his wife, Shelby. His son Travis was born in Crown Point, Indiana.

Report: TJ Oshie gave Taylor Chorney an opportunity to celebrate the Caps’ Stanley Cup win at his private party

Taylor Chorney was a member of the Capitals for parts of three seasons. But late last year, Chorney was claimed by the Columbus Blue Jackets after Washington put the depth defenseman on waivers. Chorney juuuust missed out on being part of the Capitals championship-winning team.

But we have good news to share. Chorney recently got time with the Stanley Cup. According to a report by the Grand Forks Herald’s Brad Elliott Schlossman, TJ Oshie invited his former teammate to his private party in Minneapolis on Tuesday night. The party concluded Oshie’s day with the Stanley Cup.

The Washington Capitals have consumed a variety of foods and beverages out of the Stanley Cup this summer such as caviar, ice cream, wine, and beer.

On Tuesday, TJ Oshie took the Stanley Cup to Warroad, Minnesota.

Leni Oshie chants ‘Stanley Cup’ ahead of TJ Oshie’s day with championship trophy

Dick Patrick and son Chris become sixth and seventh members of Patrick Family to win Stanley Cup

The Stanley Cup was back in Washington DC area this week and made a special visit to the Patrick family’s home.

Dick and Chris Patrick are the sixth and seventh family members to win the Stanley Cup, a tradition that goes back 100 years in their legendary family.

Capitals scout Steve Bowman does Cup stand, eats catered food from Qdoba during Stanley Cup day

Saturday, Capitals head amateur scout, Steve Bowman, had his day with the Stanley Cup in London, Ontario.

The scout, who is from the hockey-famous Bowman family, is the nephew of Scotty Bowman. After the Caps won their first Stanley Cup championship as a franchise in June, Bowman became the third member of the family to have his name etched on the championship trophy. The Bowmans have won the Stanley Cup 18 different times (Scotty, 14; Stan, 3; and Steve, 1).

Steve celebrated by doing a Cup stand in his backyard.

Jakub Vrana invites Washington Wizards Tomas Satoransky to his day with the Cup

Jakub Vrana went all over Prague during his day with the Cup. He had surprise visits from Andre Burakovsky, Michal Kempny, and Jakub Jerabek, but also invited another DC-Czech friend along for the celebrations.

Washington Wizards point guard Tomas Satoransky joined Vrana’s evening party after trying to meet the Capitals forward during the past season.

Jakub Vrana celebrates Cup day with family, visits childhood rink, and has a surprise visit from Andre Burakovsky

On Wednesday, the Stanley Cup made its way from Hodonin to Prague, and into the waiting arms of rookie forward, Jakub Vrana. The Washington Capitals documented the Cup’s journey from its unboxing, to Letňany’s ice rink, through to Andre Burakovsky’s surprising appearance to join in the celebrations.
