Tuesday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, a large banner was hung above the rink, congratulating defenseman Brooks Orpik and wife Erin on the birth of their second child. The couple named their baby girl Brooklyn.
The sign, prepared by the Capitals Fan Club, reads Congrats Brooks & Erin. Brooklyn is the family’s second daughter. Two-year-old Harlow Orpik was born in March of 2015.

Wednesday, the Oshie family got one tiny human bigger. Lauren Oshie gave birth to the couple’s second child, a girl, Leni Rose Oshie. She was six pounds, ten ounces.
Tiny, Penguin-hating Lyla is now an older sister.
On Saturday, Evgeny Kuznetsov visited Fire Station 4 in Clarendon to get help installing a baby seat in his car. On Monday, we found out why. His wife Nastia gave birth to the couple’s first child. It’s a girl. The Capitals reported on Twitter that both mom and the baby are doing well.
Kuznetsov first shared the news on Instagram with a photo of his new daughter’s tiny feet. His caption reads in Russian: “I am a dad. Thank you for my daughter, my love.” On Twitter, he says pretty much the same thing, but refers to himself as Batya, which means father in Russian.
We’re often treated to concourse footage during home games on CSN Washington. On Saturday, during the second intermission, a mom and a dad held their adorable baby and waved. The baby was, naturally, wearing oversized pink headphones and a teeny tiny vintage Caps jersey. It’s adorable, you see.
After the Washington Capitals defeated the Buffalo Sabres 1-0 in their preseason opener on Sunday, the game’s only scorer, Andre Burakovsky, spoke to CSN Washington’s Al Koken. Burakovsky said stuff but who cares; look at that baby in the corner.
