Capitals to hold watch parties at Capital One Arena for Games One and Two of the Stanley Cup Final

The Washington Capitals will be participating in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in two decades as they take on the expansion Vegas Golden Knights.

After having a huge turnout for Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Final, the Capitals will be opening up Capital One Arena again for a watch party to watch the away games. The doors open for both games at 7 PM. Game One is Monday and Game Two is Wednesday.

DC Council member Jack Evans wants streets shut down near arena, longer Metro hours for remaining Caps’ home playoff games

The DC government is looking in to making Washington DC like other huge hockey towns across North America.

Friday, WTOP’s Jack Pointer spoke to Jack Evans, and the DC Council member expressed his interest to shut down city streets near Capital One Arena for the team’s remaining home playoff games this season. Friday evening, the Capitals are hosting a watch party for Game One in a Rosslyn, Virginia park. Evans wants to shift that activity downtown for future games.

According to Wikipedia, Sergei Bobrovsky now owns Capital One Arena

The Washington Capitals are down 2-0 in their first round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Emotions are running high and lots of Capitals fans are taking their frustrations out on Twitter. The words “deep sadness” and “depression” have definitely been tossed around more than usual.

Luckily nobody on the other side is overreacting. Oh wait. No. I’m wrong.

Blue Jackets fans changed the Wikipedia listing for Capital One Arena.

Photos: Capital One Arena’s glow stick giveaway for Game One

As is now tradition, the Capitals gave away red glowsticks to fans attending Game One of their series against the Blue Jackets.

With the blinking red glow as well as a new projection system, Capital One Arena looked beautiful.

A golden retriever played fetch out on the ice at Capital One Arena again

A year and two days ago, a very very good doggo went out on the ice at Verizon Center and played fetch with a police officer. The tail-wagging hockey pup went viral on social media because everyone needed this media in their life.

Well I have some great news. It appears that happy golden retriever is back and is just as rambunctious as before.

Caps season tickets are getting more expensive in the upper levels, most 100-level seats won’t change

The Capitals on Monday announced season-ticket renewal prices for the 2018-2019 season, along with some new incentive programs including an opportunity for season-ticket holders to get a stick autographed by Alex Ovechkin.

Most sections of the newly renamed Capital One Arena will see modest price increases in the 2018-2019 season, with an average increase of about 5.7 percent. The club now offers 35 different price tiers based on location in the arena, with the average pricing tier being $113.

Capital One Arena to undergo $40 million renovation this summer

Back in September, the building formerly known as Verizon Center was given a brand new name: Capital One Arena. As part of the deal, Monumental Sports & Entertainment promised $40 million of upgrades to the 20-year-old arena.

Thursday afternoon, Monumental announced that these upgrades will be coming this summer, after the Capitals and Wizards finish their seasons.

Watch Capital One Arena erupt after Nats beat Cubs in Game Four

Wednesday night, the Washington Nationals lived to see another day after starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg had a masterful… no, *sick performance. Stras struck out 2016 MVP Kris Bryant three times and Anthony Rizzo twice. Michael A. Taylor put the game out of reach with an eighth inning grand slam.

In the first period of their rivalry-night game against the Penguins, the Capitals’ game entertainment crew put the final score on the jumbotron. The crowd cheered loudly.

Peanut M&M’s is now a sponsor of the Capitals

Wednesday morning, the Washington Capitals released a photo of what will soon be the team’s new sheet of ice for next season. There are several big changes from last year.

Two iterations of the arena’s new name, Capital One Arena, wraps around the top and bottom of the center-ice faceoff circle. The Capitals also have two new neutral ice sponsors.

Logos for Leidos and Peanut M&M’s have replaced the marks of Chipotle and Verizon at the bottom of the ice.
