Controversial overturned goal helps Edmonton Oilers eliminate Calgary Flames in Game Five

The Edmonton Oilers are moving on to the Western Conference Final but they aren’t doing so without some controversy. Late in the third period of Game Five, it looked like the Calgary Flames had taken the lead through a Blake Coleman skate redirection.

The initial call on the ice was a goal. The play then went under review and apparently, enough evidence was found to overturn the goal. The Oilers would go on to win the game in overtime.

NHL players spending time at home being adorable with their children

Hockey’s on hold for now, as the league attempts to slow the spread of COVID-19, leaving arenas empty for an indefinite amount of time. One small silver lining is that instead of being on the road away from their families, hockey players were asked to self-quarantine at home.

Forget about lacing the skates for now–it’s time for floor hockey with the kids, quality cuddling with the newborns, and completely ignoring bedtime story protocol with Erik Karlsson.

Blake Coleman’s face turned into mashed potatoes after fighting Tom Wilson

Fighting Tom Wilson is never a good idea and Blake Coleman learned this lesson the hard way.

Early in the third period, Coleman fought Andre Burakovsky, after knocking Dmitry Orlov awkwardly into the boards. Coleman must have felt cocky after pushing the Swedish cinnamon roll around so nearly ten minutes later, he engaged heavyweight enforcer Tom Wilson. He instantly regretted it.

‘Tough guy’ Andre Burakovsky sticks up for Dmitry Orlov, gets in first career NHL fight

2:33 into a wild third period, Swedish forward Andre Burakovsky got in his first career NHL fight against Devils forward Blake Coleman. Young Dre dropped his mitts after teammate Dmitry Orlov was pushed off balance by the Devils pest and slammed feet-first into the boards.

Before we go any further: Yes, you read that right. The former teen shampoo model did his best Tom Wilson impersonation, throwing hands with a gritty opposing player.
