Last night before TJ Oshie’s surprise birthday party, Tom Wilson gave the 30-year-old an early present: five backhanded slashes to the buttocks.
Yes, Wilson and Oshie’s bizarre pregame ritual continued. And today, we have three (!) videos capturing the derriere bruising.
Friday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, John Carlson was fantastic. The 2016-17 season has been a bit of a struggle at times for the American defenseman. Carlson scored one goal in his first 31 games. He often foiled the Washington Capitals’ power play early in the year with misplaced passes to Alex Ovechkin or point shots that badly missed the net.
Things seem to be improving, however. Carlson has nine points in his last 10 games. Against Tampa Friday night, Carlson was more aggressive than usual, firing a game-high six shots on net. The two goals he scored in the first period gave the Caps stalwart his second career two-goal game.
Alex Ovechkin is a very unique human. He wears yellow laces in his skates, communicates in only parenthesis and haha’s, and celebrates his teammates’ goals more than his own.
He also plays defense in a very Ovi way.
Such as early in the third period, when Lightning defenseman Slater Koekkoek went for a wraparound goal. Ovi, who read the play perfectly, decided in that moment to screw the pokecheck and take the body. Hard.
It’s a holiday goal party and Alex Ovechkin just got invited.
10:48 into the second period, the Russian machine joined John Carlson in the goal column, scoring on a breakaway. The goal was stunning but the pass by Dmitry Orlov was a work of art that even Picasso would curse at.
Before Friday’s tilt against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin shared his secret to fully arousing his Russian consciousness with Evgeny Kuznetsov. Ovechkin held smelling salts in front of Kuznetsov’s face. But much like Marcus Johansson last season, Kuznetsov could not handle it.
Tom Wilson is streaking (for him).
The physics-defying, immovable object tallied his first apple of the season, a secondary assist on John Carlson’s first period goal – a booming slap shot off Andrei Vasilevskiy’s glove.
The weekend is here, many holidays are near, and we’ve got Caps hockey on the agenda tonight. What’s not to love? Grab a beverage and some good company and get ready to cheer on the team in red.
A banged up Tampa team comes to town tonight to face a Caps team that continues to try to keep pace in the juggernaut that is the Metro division.
