The Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning met for the third and final time this regular season. The Caps 3-1 win cemented a clean series sweep and continues their domination over the Atlantic Division.
The Caps out-shot the Lightning 35 to 27 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 48 to 37.

The Washington Capitals traveled home for the back half of their back-to-back to meet a Tampa Bay Lightning team that they had dispatched of recently in front of the Caps dads and mentors. Could they do said dispatching again in this season series finale?
Radko Gudas’ first goal for the Caps in the second period kicked off tonight’s scoring. Nikita Kucherov found a good bounce and beat Braden Holtby to tie the game. Dmitry Orlov wired home a slap shot to give the Caps the lead. Nic Dowd hardworking empty netter.

Nick Jensen’s strange weekend continues. Friday, the Capitals defenseman participated in one of the weirdest fights of the year with Devils forward Miles Wood.
Saturday against the Lightning, Jensen had an even stranger moment. The American defenseman jumped on the ice for a second-period shift and had the equivalent of toilet paper stuck to his shoe except the toilet paper was a towel and the shoe was his right skate.
The Washington Capitals’ matchup against the Tampa Bay Lighting Friday is the team’s final home game before the Christmas holiday. So the team went all out.
Captain, the team’s dog, looked pawsitively jolly, nailing the Kris Kringle vibe with a red Santa suit and hat. Meanwhile, many of the Caps’ players wore ugly holiday suits.

The Caps are almost ready for Christmas, but first they’ve got a homer against the Bolts. Though tired, the Caps should have a full lineup for the 7 PM game.

The holiday is approaching, but the Washington Capitals still have a lot of work to do before break. On Saturday night the Caps will host the underperforming-but-still-dangerous Tampa Bay Lightning. The Caps will play tired, whereas the Lightning had Friday off. This will be a challenge.
