The Caps welcome Ilya Kovalchuk to the fold and throw a little shindig for Ovi’s 700th goal. Let’s do this.
Washington Capitals majority owner Ted Leonsis will be on the ice as part of a pregame ceremony honoring Alex Ovechkin for scoring 700 goals, Tuesday night.
But before he did that, Leonsis spoke to NBC 4 Washington about what makes Ovechkin so great and why he’s still such a great goalscorer at age 34.
When Alex Ovechkin takes the ice Tuesday night against the Winnipeg Jets, he won’t be the only Washington Capitals player on the team wearing yellow skate laces.
Ilya Kovalchuk will don yellow too becoming the first Capitals player since Sergei Fedorov to wear the lace color along with Ovechkin in an NHL game.
The Washington Capitals will take on the Winnipeg Jets in their first game post NHL trade deadline and will do so with new acquisition, Ilya Kovalchuk. Lets get him a goal or two in his debut, eh boys?
Puck drop is at your normal 7 PM and Elyse (we stan) has your recap.
The Washington Capitals will celebrate Alex Ovechkin’s 700th goal in a special pregame ceremony tonight before the Winnipeg Jets. All fans in attendance will get a special Alex Ovechkin 700 jersey towel.
This morning, ahead of the game, the Capital One Arena staff laid those towels on every seat of the arena, spelling out OVI on one half of the lower bowl and 700 in the other.
It’s picturesque and beautiful; it’s a wonderful tribute.
