The best moment of the NHL Top 100 Ceremony didn’t actually happen on stage. It happened in the crowd.
During Jon Hamm’s opening segment, the former Mad Men actor flubbed Alex Ovechkin’s name and called him Sergei. Later in the show, Hamm went out into the crowd and apologized, attempting to play off the mistake.
That was okay, I guess. But then the camera panned to the right and Mikhail Ovechkin came into the frame. Everything immediately got better.
