Caps players tune in to watch Conor McGregor become the first double champion at UFC 205

After the Caps’ 5-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, Alex Ovechkin, Andre Burakovsky, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Dmitry Orlov returned home and bought a pay-per-view.

The players stayed up late to watch the UFC’s historic first visit to Madison Square Garden. Conor McGregor headlined the UFC 205 card and the “Notorious” Irishman knocked out Eddie Alvarez in Round 2. McGregor’s win made him the first combat fighter in UFC history to hold two belts in two different weight divisions.

Each Caps player documented their night on social media. Please prepare yourself for several thrilling vertical videos taken by the players of their respective TVs.

Caps at Hurricanes pregame: Sweet Carolina

Back so soon? Tonight the Caps complete the second half of a back-to-back in Raleigh after beating Chicago last night 3-2 in OT.

The Carolina Hurricanes currently sit last in not only the Metropolitan division, but also the entire NHL with just three wins on the season. They are currently amidst a three-game losing streak and just placed their number one defenseman Justin Faulk on injured reserve. However, they always seem to find a way to play the Capitals tight.

Puck drop is at 7 PM on CSN+, because the Wizards need to lose on the main network. Tonight’s game is also streaming on CSNmidatlantic.com & the NBC Sports app.

CSN Mid-Atlantic subscribers can now stream live Caps games

Before tonight’s game CSN-Mid Atlantic dropped some great news. Subscribers to the network can now live stream Caps games on their devices either directly from the CSN-Mid Atlantic website or from the NBC Sports mobile app.

No more blackouts. Lets rejoice.

Caps at Blackhawks pregame: Veterans Day showdown

After three straight at home, the Caps start a three game road trip tonight in Chicago against the Blackhawks, who just so happen to be on a seven game winning streak. It’s also Veterans Day and the 98th anniversary of the first World War ending.

The last time you saw the Caps they were handed a 3-0 loss by the San Jose Sharks, ending a five game winning streak of their own. It’ll be a tough one in Chi-Town as the United Center is always rocking and the Caps are looking to get back into the W column.

The Blackhawks sit atop both the Central division and the Western Conference with a total of 21 points. They are on fire of late, as mentioned previously, and hold three of the NHL’s top 10 scorers on their roster in Patrick Kane, Artem Anisimov and Artemi Panarin. I think all of that just means that they’re due for a loss. What say you Capitals?

The puck is dropped at 8:30 PM on CSN+ because time zones and the Wizards have to lose again on CSNMA.

Colby Williams’ first AHL goal gives Bears 3-2 overtime victory

Friday night, the Hershey Bears trailed the Springfield Thunderbirds 2-1 going into the third period. Halfway through the period, Brad Malone tied the game, forcing the game to an extra frame.

In overtime, Travis Boyd led a rush up the ice and chipped a pass to 21-year-old defenseman Colby Williams. The 2015 sixth round pick out-waited the opposing netminder and tucked home the game winner on his backhand. It was Williams’ first professional goal. Joe Cannata made 27 saves in the win.

Alex Ovechkin has the 9th best selling jersey in October

Breaking: Alex Ovechkin is still popular among ice hockey fans 11 years after his debut in the NHL. Tuesday night, the NHL announced that the Capitals captain’s jersey was the 9th most bought jersey among all players in the month of October.

Touchdown, Hershey! Jakub Vrana’s two goals lead Bears to 7-2 victory over Binghamton

Saturday Night, the Hershey Bears tallied their second win of the season in dominant fashion. The Bears put up a touchdown (and an extra point), destroying the Binghamton Senators 7-2. All the Caps top prospects’ contributed in the win.

Jakub Vrana and Christian Thomas scored two goals apiece while Madison Bowey, Riley Barber, and Chris Bourque recorded the Bears’ other three goals. Hershey goaltender Joe Cannata stopped 15 of the Wolf Pack’s 17 shots.

#RMNBAfterDark: Caps beat Canucks 5-2

The Caps were in Vancouver tonight, and the game started yesterday. The boys dominated the entire night, largely thanks to their 5v5 play, providing the W to end the team’s two-game losing streak.

First came a tip-in from noted net-crasher Marcus Johansson. Second was top-six Tommy’s first of the season. Next came a goal from Denmark’s Jannik Hansen with 6 seconds left in the first period. Johansson then scored his second of the night on the power play after slamming home a TJ Oshie post shot. Bo Horvat tallied late in the second to make it 3-2. Oshie made it 4-2 late in the 3rd off a great feed from Andre Burakovsky. Karl Alzner got an empty netter, 5-2.

Caps beat Canucks 5-2. Everybody can go to sleep now.

Brooks Laich is on the Toronto Marlies and still hasn’t played yet

As you may know back on October 9th, the Toronto Maple Leafs placed former long-time Capital Brooks Laich on waivers. Laich cleared, but remained with the team until two days later when the Leafs ultimately made the decision to demote him to their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

The Toronto Marlies have played two regular season games since then and Laich has dressed for neither. So what gives?

Matt Duchene flipped by Dmitry Orlov, now opening salt factory

As you may have heard, Dmitry Orlov laid a massive hip check on the Avalanche’s Matt Duchene Tuesday night, sending the center flying through the air. In fact, Duchene completed a full flip.

The entire hockey community was excited by Orlov’s clean hit except for one person: Matt Duchene.
