The Washington Capitals will be without Pierre-Luc Dubois for the next three to four months.

Dubois underwent surgery to address injuries to his abdominal and adductor muscles on Friday, November 7. The Capitals announced the news on Sunday morning.

“Caps forward Pierre-Luc Dubois underwent surgery on Friday, November 7, to address injuries to his abdominal and adductor muscles,” the team tweeted. “Due to the nature of the procedure, Dubois is expected to miss 3-4 months.”

Dubois suffered his injury against the New York Islanders on October 31, staying down on the ice after a defensive-zone faceoff. He needed assistance to get back to the club’s locker room and has not skated with his teammates since.

The 27-year-old center has played in just six of the Capitals’ 15 games this fall, recording zero points and averaging 15:32 of time on ice per game. He recorded a career high 66 points (20g, 46a) with the Caps last year, playing in all 82 games.

The 3-4 month timeline puts Dubois on schedule for a return in either March or April, after the league breaks for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.

With Dubois out, the Capitals have played with Connor McMichael at second-line center. Head coach Spencer Carbery spoke after Saturday night’s loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning about how the team is still struggling to find the right combinations in their middle-six forward group with Dubois unavailable.

The Capitals are 1-2-1 since Dubois suffered his injury.
