What is Patreon?
Patreon is a platform where people can support content creators, a term we try not to use, in exchange for stuff. A lot of big podcasts are on Patreon. We’ve been on Patreon since 2017. The guy who founded it is in Pomplamoose, in case you’re from the same ancient internet era as me.
What do I get if I subscribe?
As of 2025, Patreon subscribers at the $5 level get an ad-free version of RMNB, plus a bunch of other stuff:
- Dark mode
- Exclusive Crashers badge in the comments
- Exclusive photo galleries
- Monthly newsletter where I spill all the tea
- Playoff bracket league that I won last season

At $10 a month, you get everything above, plus you become a #crasher, part of our Discord community, a silly place where everyone is mean to me.
If you don’t want any of that, you can also sub for just $1 a month, and then you can use your adblocker without feeling bad. You shouldn’t feel bad about that anyway, but this makes it official. We have instructions on the Patreon if you don’t know how to use an adblocker.
Why are you doing an ad-free version?
We know ads can be a bit much, but right now they’re the only way we can afford to keep the site going. We want our most favoritest readers to get a better experience on the site while still supporting us, and this is how.
When we relaunched RMNB in 2024, that project was 100% funded by our subscribers on Patreon. Your support allows us to do work on top of cranking out good hockey stories. We want to experiment with fun, new projects that we hope you’ll like, and we think subscriptions are the right way to fund those.
How do I subscribe and log in?
You can click on the Log In button at top, and it’ll take you through the steps. You can’t miss it. It looks like this:
Or you can go directly to our Patreon page. It’ll ask you to create an account and then subscribe to our community at the $5 level or more. After that, you just need to return to this site and hit the Log In button at top right. Patreon will ask you if it’s okay for our website to check your access level. If you say yes, ta-da, you’re in.
If you’re not logged into Patreon yet, it’ll ask you now, and it’ll ask you to subscribe if you’re not subscribed yet, and then it’ll do the same access check as above.
You should get the ad-free mode right away after subscribing and granting access. If not, double check that you’re logged into Patreon. If you still have trouble, let me know.
It’s important to note that we will never know your Patreon password. We will know your name and email address, but not your password or payment information, obviously. You’re logging in through Patreon – not through us directly.
Um, I’m having a problem?
Double-check a few things:
- Are you logged into Patreon? Go to patreon.com to see.
- Are you subscribed at $5 or more? It’ll tell you on our Patreon page.
- Did you hit “allow” when asked by our site?
- Are you using your browser’s “incognito mode” or another private setting? If so, you won’t be able to stay logged in after you close that tab.
- Does your browser have “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking” on? For example, on iOS Safari, go to Settings > Apps > Safari, then scroll down to Privacy & Security. Turn that setting off and try again.
You can always clear your cache – here’s how – and try again.

Also, sometimes the Patreon login system just goes down. I’ve never seen it last for few more than hour or two.
I can’t or don’t want to subscribe. How can I support the site?
No worries. The next best way to support RMNB is to tell a friend. Share a link to a story on a social media site. Put a link on Facebook or Reddit. Re-post an Instagram reel. Any little bit helps, and we appreciate it. Thank you.
