Spencer Carbery’s post-game speeches are becoming must-watch material and Tuesday night, the Washington Capitals locker room was a special place to be.
The Capitals defeated Peter Laviolette’s New York Rangers 5-3. But it wasn’t necessarily the final score that was so notable, it was how they did it.
Dylan McIlrath won a heavyweight fight against Matt Rempe decisively, Alex Ovechkin scored twice, Aliaksei Protas did whatever the heck this was, and the Capitals outshot the Rangers 46 to 19, making the vibes immaculate in the locker room. Sorta like this.
This is what Carbery had to say to his team.

Spencer Carbery: Geez. Couple big boys. Hell of a f***ing job.
Spencer Carbery: O, couple big tucks early.
(Someone yelling “EYYYYY!!!!!”)
Spencer Carbery: I thought Pro was f***ing flying all night.
(Applause)
Spencer Carbery: And 10 shots on goal for f***ing Mikey.
(Locker room yells “WHOA!!!!!”)
McMichael also scored in the game, marking his first goal as a dad.
With the win, the Capitals improved their record to 6-2-0, one point in the standings behind the Rangers who are 6-2-1. The victory marked the Capitals’ first over the Rangers since they were swept out of the playoffs in the first round by the 2024 Metropolitan Division champions.
