The Hershey Bears said in a statement to FOX43 that one of their players was hospitalized on Tuesday. The Bears won the Calder Cup on Monday night after defeating the Coachella Valley Firebirds 5-4 in overtime of Game 6 and celebrated into the morning hours.

Per FOX43:

The player experienced a medical issue during a team celebration, and out of an abundance of caution, the player was transported to Hershey Medical Center.

The player was evaluated and then released early [Wednesday] morning after officials determined no additional medical assistance was needed.

The Bears could be seen drinking on the ice as they celebrated with family and friends after the thrilling overtime victory. Afterward, they retreated into the locker room where they sprayed each other with champagne and drank out of the Calder Cup.

Other celebrations happened on Tuesday including at a local brewery and downtown later that night.

FOX43 posted the story at 1:11 pm on Wednesday, hours before Hershey’s Calder Cup celebration with fans at Giant Center began at 6 pm. The news outlet is the Bears’ rights holder which broadcasts games.

The player was in attendance at Giant Center for the public celebration and autograph signing.
