Tom Wilson misses morning skate in Calgary

Tom Wilson was absent from the Capitals’ morning skate Tuesday ahead of the team’s matchup with the Calgary Flames.

The Capitals forward was replaced during rushes by Travis Boyd on the second line.

According to the Washington Post’s Samantha Pell, Wilson had a maintenance day.

He will be a game-time decision.

Known for his hard work and toughness, Wilson has rarely missed games or even practices due to injury during his seven seasons in the NHL. But the start of the 2019-20 season has been especially rugged for the big winger. Wilson has blocked 10 shots, second-most among all Capitals forwards, and leads the team with 32 hits (ninth most in the NHL).

Among Capitals forwards, Wilson has the fourth most time on ice as a penalty killer (19:10) in ten games this season.

The team is coming off a game against the Blackhawks on Sunday which was more physical than normal. Wilson had four blocked shots (tied for the team-high) and three hits. The Blackhawks had five powerplays in the game.
