Days after dominating the league’s best team, the Washington Capitals landed in Sunrise, Florida for a tilt against the playoff-less Panthers.
“I saw a few guys in here with a sunburn,” Matt Niskanen said before the game. “So I’m sure some guys got out, enjoyed the weather, doing various things. Nice to have a day off in a place like this. Kind of get away mentally, good break, be sharp for today.”
Instead, the Capitals put up one of their most listless performances of the season, giving up the game’s first four goals and losing 5-3.
Other than the three goals the Capitals scored in the final 10 minutes of the game, the most remarkable part of the game was Andre Burakovsky’s sunburn.
Burakovsky showed off his color during warmups, choosing not to wear a helmet.
This is amazing.

Burakovsky wasn’t the only one who was sunburned. Check out Nicklas Backstrom.

The Capitals have two more games left in the season. Thursday, they’ll look to lock up the division against the Montreal Canadiens.
