Greetings from Ovechkin Island (again)

Sometime tomorrow the Philadelphia Flyers will gather in front of a TV screen and review video from Wednesday’s game against the Washington Capitals, and in that meeting someone will freeze frame Alex Ovechkin standing all alone in front of the Flyers net with the puck, and then someone will say, “what is wrong with this picture?”

Anyway, Alex Ovechkin’s got 46 goals now.

With Sean Couturier in the penalty box, the Caps did what the Caps do. Nicklas Backstrom lured in two Flyers along the half wall and then delivered the puck to Ovi in the Ovi Spot.

With all the time in the world, Ovechkin readies his shot and unleashes it. Five hole.

Too easy.

Your captain has 46 goals and is one point away from 1200 in his career.
