Jakub Vrana scores twice against Vegas Golden Knights, actually gets fist bump from Brett Connolly

Jakub Vrana has scored his seventh goal of the season with a speedy sequence set up by linemate Brett Connolly.

This is about as pretty and as fast as Caps hockey gets.

Video

Connolly, who earlier in the period was busted for goalie interference which led to a goal, outraced Vegas defender Shea Theodore at center ice. Connolly surged wide into the offensive zone as Vrana followed through the slot. Connolly sent a smart up the middle, and Vrana tapped it for a one-timer layup.

Here’s another look.

After the goal, Connolly and Vrana connected with a fist bump on the bench.

This was a big accomplishment for Connolly, considering his past history with giving dap to teammates.

Connolly is one assist off his 2017-18 total — in 40-some fewer games.

Update: Vrana added a second goal in the third period, marking his second-career two-goal game.
