During the 2010 season, the Washington Capitals extended a tryout offer to Matt Hendricks during training camp. Not only did the Minnesota native make the team, Hendricks earned the nickname The Paralyzer for his shootout heroics and a two-year contract, cementing him as a full-time player in the league.

Hendricks moved on in 2013 to Nashville and later Edmonton, but was a beloved part of the Capitals while in the nation’s capital. That’s why on Sunday, Hendricks, the captain of the United States National Team, and former teammate Alex Ovechkin gave each other a big hug in the handshake line.

Teh feels.

Russia beat the US 7-2, but what a moment.
