The Hershey Bears have won 16 of their first 28 games. Now they will dominate even more in style.
Over the last week, both of Hershey’s goaltenders, Vitek Vanecek — the AHL’s reigning player of the week — and Joe Cannata, have debuted new masks designed by Swedish airbrusher and non-sensical English worder, David Gunnarsson.
Let’s take a look at the new buckets, which are designed in a similar style.
Vitek Vanecek’s new mask
Vanecek’s mask features sketch-style bear paws at the top while the middle of the mask is split by solid bars of the Hershey Bears’ brand colors.
I’ll let Dave take it from there:
The latest chronicle of Vitek Vanecek’s mask art saga is here… Clean cut on a distance. And when you come closer you enter the saga… Lots of 3D effects and all the other DaveArt Trademark Super FX takes you on a journey…. #vanecek @thehersheybears @theahl #DaveArt #DaveArtCreativity
If that wasn’t enough of an art saga, Dave made a video of the new mask with an old-time filter (which makes it infinitely harder to appreciate his work).
Joe Cannata’s new mask
Cannata’s mask is more striking, featuring a dark brown half-Hershey design and a white half-Capitals design. The top of Cannata’s mask features the Hershey Bears logo roaring. Meanwhile on the bottom, the weagle is featured in a similar sketch style of Vanecek’s.
Tell us more, Dave:
Joe Cannata’s Hershey Bear mask is created as a true Storyteller mask. A clean cut look on a distance.. and when you come closer you will enter the saga build on detail work. And for sure it is loaded with all the DaveArt Trademark Super FX… #cannata @thehersheybears #DaveArt @capitals @nhl @theahl #nhl #DaveArtCreativity #DaveArtTheGameChanger
The video features epic movie soundtrack music.
What do you guys think of the masks?
