Brooks Laich, forever a Capital, skates in former team’s practice jersey

On Friday, former Capitals forward Brooks Laich posted video from a work out at the Los Angeles Kings practice facility, the Toyota Sports Center.

Working on some subtleties today. Focusing on technique first – head up, trying to keep the upper body still and push the puck instead of stickhandling it, while I do a subtle weight shift fake to the inside and crossovers out of it. Lots of elements in play here, building the technique first and then the speed second. Great drill to develop speed through the neutral zone, centermen should be dominant at this! Give it a shot! 🏒

That brings back a few memories doesn’t it?

Laich’s six-year, $27 million contract, which he originally signed with the Capitals, ends on June 30. Laich spent the entirety of the 2016-17 season with the Marlies despite multiple requests for a trade.

The Canadian forward, who is engaged to actress and dancer Julianne Hough, currently lives in Los Angeles.
