The Washington Capitals re-signed 29-year-old forward Mike Vecchione to a one-year, two way contract on Monday. The deal is worth $750k in the NHL and $275k in the AHL.
Vecchione made his Capitals debut on March 18, 2022, against the Carolina Hurricanes, posting three shots on goal in 5:06 of ice time.
The game marked Vecchione’s third in the NHL and first since the 2016-17 season when he played two total for the Philadelphia Flyers.
The journeyman forward has been very effective with the Hershey Bears this season, posting 38 points (13g, 25a) in 46 games. His 25 assists lead all Bears players.
In 257 career AHL games, Vecchione has recorded 162 points (73g, 89a).

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have signed forward Mike Vecchione to a one-year, two-way contract ($750,000/275,000), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.
Vecchione, 29, is tied for first on the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season with 38 points (13g, 25a) and leads the team with 25 assists. The 5’10”, 193-pound forward is just two points shy of tying his AHL career high in points in a season (2017-18: 40 points).
The Saugus, Mass., native appeared in one game for the Capitals this season and has three career NHL games.
Vecchione recorded 10 points (7g, 3a) in 18 games with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, tying for the third-most goals on the team.
Vecchione entered the 2020-21 season with three consecutive AHL seasons with at least 36 points, including a career high of 40 points (17g, 23a) as a member of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the 2017-18 season.
Vecchione originally signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on March 31, 2017 following four seasons at Union College (NCAA), where he recorded 176 points (71g, 105a) in 149 career games, additionally serving as team captain for his junior and senior seasons.
In 257 career AHL games between Hershey, Lehigh Valley, the San Antonio Rampage and Colorado, Vecchione has recorded 162 points (73g, 89a).
