More dates have been finalized in a possible return-to-play scenario for the NHL.

CapFriendly and Elliotte Friedman jointly report that the NHL and NHLPA have tentatively agreed to extend player contracts and work permits through October 31. NHL contracts currently end in eight days on June 30.

We’ve heard that the NHL and NHLPA have come to a tentative agreement on extending player contracts and work permits for players whose contracts were set to expire on June 30.

We expect that the contracts will be extended to a date in late October or early November.

That’s going to be one chilly Stanley Cup celebration and one spooky as hell offseason.

Other dates that have reportedly been finalized for the NHL’s 24-team playoff include July 10 being the first day of training camp and July 30 being the start of the qualifying round.

This all, of course, depends on if the NHLPA wants to return to play during a dangerous time in America where coronavirus cases are beginning to rise again.
