The Caps will host the Flames tonight, but the real story will be the Caps hosting the World Series Champion Washington Nationals. The Nats will be in the Capital One Arena crowd for Sunday’s game, so get ready for some celly.

Puck drop is at 7 PM. I’ve got recap duty.

    Record 8-6-2 10-2-3
    Shot Attempt % 50.9% 52.3%
    PDO 99.5 101.0
    Power Play 16.0% (21st) 25.0% (5th)
    Penalty Kill 88.1% (4th) 85.7% (7th)

    Projected Lines

Nic Dowd remains out. Everything else should be the same except with Samsonov in net.

    Ovechkin – Backstrom – Oshie
    Vrana – Kuznetsov – Wilson
    Hagelin – Eller – Hathaway
    Leipsic – Stephenson – Boyd

    Kempny – Carlson
    Orlov – Gudas
    Siegenthaler – Jensen

    Samsonov

    Return of the Snapshot

I’ve resurrected the Sunday Snapshot series for 2019-20. The first installment came out today. Short version goes like this:

    • Ovi is still good
    • Vrana is about to blow some minds
    • Jensen’s really unlucky
    • Carlson’s the opposite
    • Kuznetsov oh jeez oh no is this who he is now

Check it all out with actual numbers and full sentences.

    Storylines

    • The Nats championship parade was yesterday. We were all over it. We rarely miss on coverage of shirtless athletes. Ian took a bunch of photos, but here’s one I love.
    • Okay, quick question: what is a Tiesto?
    • The Caps’ fourth line was magnificent on Friday.
    • Jakub Vrana is heating up.
    • Milan Lucic will miss the game. He’s been suspended two games for this cheapshot.

    • The Flames played in Columbus yesterday, shutting out the Jackets 3-0. I expect Talbot to start today.

    Peter’s Esports Corner

The United States won the Overwatch World Cup on Saturday night, first besting the powerhouse favorite South Korea team in the quarterfinals and then the Chinese team in the grand finals. Though San Francisco’s Sinatraa won the MVP award, the US got a great performance out of Washington’s damage player Corey (as well as Space, who was recently traded to LA Gladiators from the LA Valiant).

The US has had disappointing outings in the World Cup in recent years, but at least they didn’t get stomped like the Canadians did this year. That was a total disaster, with their star tank player xQc feeding nonstop.

This has been Peter’s Esports Corner. You are welcome.
