The St. Louis Blues’ alternate captain Vladimir Tarasenko, wife Yana, and sons Mark and Aleksandr, welcomed a new member to their family the one day after the Blues won Game Five of the Stanley Cup Final.
Days later, after the Blues won Game Seven, Tarasenko brought the Stanley Cup home to St. Louis, and the week-old baby settled into it for a nap.
Tarasenko appears to be the first Blues player to spend a day with the NHL’s championship trophy.
A Stanley Cup in one arm, a sleeping newborn in the other–that’s a pretty good homecoming.
The Tarasenkos lounged in the living room – a long, but amazing week finally over.

Thursday afternoon, Nastya Ovechkina left a comment on one of Yana’s Instagram posts congratulating the family in emojis.
During Game Seven’s postgame interviews, a beaming Tarasenko said, “This might be the best weekend of my life… This means the world. This means a lot.”
Tarasenko’s 10-year-old son Mark added, “I’m the proudest person right now. It’s just the best Cup ever. I feel like the last seven days have been the best days of my life and I’m just enjoying them.”

The two held up the Stanley Cup together.
Tarasenko and his teammates spoke before Game Six about how happy they were for the arrival of a healthy baby.
Because the baby was born on an off day, Tarasenko was able to be there to hold his child in the delivery room before ending St. Louis’s 52-year championship drought.
