The Capitals are still in North Carolina and will be facing off against the Hurricanes for Game Four. To be honest, I almost wanted to write Game Three because I blocked the actual Game Three out of my mind. We’re brushing it off, we’re moving on.

If the Capitals want to avoid the Canes tying this series up, they will need to do literally everything completely opposite from Monday night. The atmosphere is going to be electric again and the Capitals need to be smarter.

Puck drop is at 7 PM, and you can stream the game using the My Teams app. Recap duty will be brought to you by *drum roll* Chris Cerullo! We’re switchin’ it up for y’all, gotta stay on your toes.

    Record 48-26-8 46-29-7
    Shot Attempt % 49.0% 54.8%
    PDO 102.2 99.2
    Power Play 20.8% (12th) 17.8% (20th)
    Penalty Kill 78.9% (24th)   81.6% (8th)

    Projected Lines

Chris Kuc from The Athletic has the lines from morning skate in North Carolina. As we mentioned yesterday, the lines were being shifted and there was a possibility of Christian Djoos takin’ a seat:

    Ovechkin – Backstrom – Oshie
    Vrana – Kuznetsov – Wilson
    Burakovsky – Eller – Connolly
    Hagelin – Dowd – Boyd

    Carlson – Jensen
    Orlov – Niskanen
    Orpik – Siegenthaler

    Holtby

    Empty Inside

Let’s check on how the Tampa Bay Lightning are doin- alllllll right then!

    Storylines

    • Andre Burakovsky was up for the hot lap this morning! Fitting that he’s the hot lap for Game Four since he’s basically like our four-year-old son.
    • Need a refresher for what happened last night in the playoffs? CFTC has you covered with a quick report!
    • Good news, Andrei Svechnikov was on the ice moving around this morning! The bad news is that he has one hell of a shiner courtesy of Alex Ovechkin.
    • The Washington Post Express needs to watch itself. These covers are getting a tad too close to seeming a tad jinxy.
    • Conor McGregor is very proud of that fight from Alex Ovechkin. Of course he is.
    • The Carolina Hurricanes are starting to do that whole “no capital letters” thing. QUITE rude.
    • Tom Wilson is the Capitals nominee for the King Clancy Trophy and I have been blocking twitter slander on this subject. I will not hear it, thank you.
    • Please clear your schedules for Saturday night at 8:00PM. Game Five will be taking place and this takes priority. If you need me to write you a doctors note to get out of anything, don’t hesitate to reach out.
    • Tom Wilson is why the Penguins lost. That’s it. End of Story.

    Selke Trophy nominees

The official Selke Trophy nominees were announced yesterday. Listed are Mark Stone, Patrice Bergeron, and Ryan O’Reilly. Kind of surprised not to see Sidney Crosby there and there was a lot of chatter why Aleksander Barkov wasn’t nominated too. What do you think?
