    Two western series have been completely flipped on their head and more from Monday night’s set of playoff action.

    Carolina Hurricanes 5, Washington Capitals 0

    Washington leads series 2-1

    • The Canes outshot the Capitals 30-8 in the last two periods of the game.
    • The Capitals first shot on goal in the second period came with 4:45 left on the clock.
    • Four of Petr Mrazek‘s five career playoff wins have been shutouts.

    Toronto Maple Leafs 3, Boston Bruins 2

    Toronto leads series 2-1

    • Mike Babcock earned his 89th career win in the playoffs to tie Glen Sather and Darryl Sutter for seventh place on the NHL’s all-time list.
    • Auston Matthews got on the board with his first of the playoffs.
    • Mitch Marner made two huge shot blocks in the final seconds to protect the one goal lead.

    Nashville Predators 3, Dallas Stars 2

    Nashville leads series 2-1

    • Pekka Rinne earned his 45th career win in the playoffs to tie Tony Esposito for 24th place on the NHL’s all-time list
    • Everybody’s favorite Predators player, Filip Forsberg got on the board for the first time this postseason.
    • The Preds won this game without Wayne Simmonds and Brian Boyle who are both week-to-week with injuries.

    Colorado Avalanche 6, Calgary Flames 2

    Colorado leads series 2-1

    • Cale Makar is the seventh player in NHL history and first defenseman to make his League debut in the playoffs and score a goal.
    • The Avalanche are the first team to record 56-plus shots on goal in regulation of a playoff game since the Florida Panthers on May 24, 1996.
    • Matt Nieto is the second player in Avalanche/Nordiques franchise history to score a shorthanded goal in consecutive games during the playoffs, joining Andre Savard who did so in 1984.
